The Greatest Moment Of My Life

The greatest moment of my life is this one.
Right now.

Everything that I will become is passing through me in this moment.

Everything that I have ever been has brought me here to this moment.

This moment is all that I am. This is it. Right now.

This is the moment that will never end.

This is the moment that I will live forever.

As I tucked my daughter into bed, I lay down next to her for a moment and I realized then that that was the greatest moment of my life.

And as I sit to write I realize that this is the next moment, the next greatest moment.

As I look back at my day with it’s triumphs and frustrations both, they all seem like great moments. Not exactly recognized as such in those moments, but still, I can see it.

Each moment is truly great. Each moment has all that life can offer. Each one. Each great moment stretches out before us, beckons us quietly, tries to coax us into recognition.

All of life is happening all the time. Think about that for a moment. All of it. It’s all there. It’s all here. Your part of it is right here. This is your moment. You don’t even have to make the best of it. The best of it is already being made. You just have to open your eyes to it.

This moment, right now, reading this, can be the greatest moment of your life, IS the greatest moment of your life. If you just let it be.

Open yourself to this moment. Easily. Quietly. Fully.

Take a deeper breath. Feel the space you are in. Listen to the soundscape around you. Take a moment and realize that this is it for you.

This is it for you.

It starts and stops right here.

See how that feels.

The greatest moment of your life just arrived.

The greatest moment doesn’t feel a certain way. It feels like this moment. This feeling is what it feels like. Right now.

Whatever you are feeling, worried and tense still, or relaxed and peaceful, doesn’t matter. Underneath all your feelings is another feeling. An insight. A glimpse into the empty/full. A gaze into the eternal disappearance. A falling glance into lightness.

This is it for you.

It stops and starts right here.

Kick Butt Happiness

We were talking about happiness not being a pursuit for the timid.

For the record, I’m a big believer in the Benevolent Universe concept. I have no doubt that the human beingness is designed from the start to operate naturally in the flow of ease and success and happiness. It’s in the DNA. The whole system is programmed for growth and abundant unfoldment of life’s riches; physically, emotionally, mentally, etc.

However. For the most part ALL of that stuff is almost completely conditioned out of us.

From the start.

Because if it’s true we are inherently designed for success and healthy living, then what happened?

Conditioning happened.

In the womb, from our parents, on the playground, in the classroom, among our friends, at work, at the bar, in the bedroom. Constantly looking OUT for something to tell us what to do, or say, or think, or feel.

So blah, blah . . . all that psychological insight, etc. What really matters is not really so much as how we got there. I don’t know for sure. But I know we need to get out of there.

We need to get here. And we need to get happy. I woke up yesterday with a sentence ringing in my mind:

“If you’re not happy, you’re wasting your life.”

If you’re not happy, then what’s the point? Which is exactly what we keep asking ourselves. And you’ll never find a decent answer to that because the point IS to be happy.

kick butt. Well that’s because it’s time to break down the castle walls and make this happen for yourself. Like today.

If you’re not doing something TODAY about something then it’s not happening. It’s not a priority.

Make your own happiness a PRIORITY.

TODAY.

“Get yourself happy and you bless yourself, you bless your family, you bless your community, you bless your world. Intentional happiness is magic.”

Happiness Is Not For The Timid.

Happiness is not for the timid.

Today, right now, you are surrounded by happiness-sucking vampires of all sorts. Especially:

  1. News media (tv and newspapers, etc.)
  2. Unhappy people of all sorts gossiping and complaining (yes including your closest friends)
  3. The constant chatter in your own head.

What to do? Just like yesterday when you had to choose to be happy, today you have to up the ante and commit to being happy.

This is not for the timid. Many will not survive this journey. If you really want to be happy then you’ll have to stop paying attention to the very negative news media, stop listening to gossip and stop PARTICIPATING in gossip, stop complaining altogether, and start re-evaluating all that insipid chatter in your own head.

But I understand that it’s nearly impossible to stop doing anything at all if you don’t start doing something else in it’s place. So . . .

You get to play a new game in the world — finding what’s good and bright and beautiful. It’s all around you. And it’s really VERY easy to see it. You just have to look. But at first you have to CONSCIOUSLY look for it. You have to commit to finding the positive aspects.

For some of you this can come as a real shocker. News can be addicting. But you can stop watching. When you really examine what you have been paying attention to you’ll easily see how very negative and sensational it all is. And completely irrelevant to your experience in this fine moment.

Gossip is just that. Mostly hearsay. Completely unnecessary. Just more to clutter your attention. Instead practice thinking the best of all your friends and everyone you meet. This one change will revolutionize your life. Utterly transform you at your core.

Transform that chatter in your head into conscious positive silver-lining thoughts. See the good in others. Find the positive aspects of all the people and events that come into your experience moment to moment. Choose how you see the world. Choose how you see the world. Choose how you see the world.

Your choosing becomes your freedom. When you realize you can choose to see only what you wish to see, an amazing world opens up to you that was right in front of you all along. The most beautiful, the most inspiring, the most delicious moments begin to unfold for you on a regular basis — BECAUSE you now choose to see the best possible aspect of this moment and every moment.

It’s your choice.

Choosing happiness requires stamina, fortitude, strength of will, diligence, persistence, unwavering commitment. This program spits out the timid with gusto.

If you want to be happy, I mean really happy, then you’ll have to step up your game. If you want to feel FANTASTIC and ALIVE and INSPIRED every day, then you’ll have to pay the price. The price you pay is how you “spend” your time and what you “pay” attention to.

The good news is that the rewards are amazing, immediate and cumulative. Positive feelings and attitudes become addictive too. You’ll start to feel unstoppable. You’ll know you are in control simply by directing your attention to bigger and better thoughts.

When you find your self caught up in petty, depressing, boring, lackluster thinking — just remember — you have bigger fish to fry.

This all takes some practice. Of course. But you can start immediately. And you’ll see results immediately too. You’ll feel better. You’ll feel relief. You’ll start to feel more and more inspired. The more you practice, the easier it gets.

Happiness.

Happiness. I think the first step is to simply choose it.

Today is the first day of this, my new blog on happiness. It’s also my birthday! I have lots of thoughts on happiness. Three books worth actually. So more to come. But today I made a new commitment to myself to follow my inner promptings that keep coming. Hence this blog.

So today I’m choosing to get things started.

I’m happy. By choice. And I have a few things to say about that. First being that I’ve come to believe that happiness is a choice we make. Whether consciously or unconsciously.

As Abraham Lincoln is often quoted: “Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.”

So make up your mind.
